Managing Director

The organisation

Our client provides analytical services for characterisation, assay development and quality assessment of novel and established medicines, ranging from synthetic molecules and biologics, to cell & gene therapies. With over twenty years of experience they proudly contribute to these medicines of tomorrow by helping our customers to accelerate their drug development journey. They support startups, biotechs as well as large Pharma companies worldwide from pre-clinical drug development, through clinical phases I, II, III all the way to commercial drugs. In their continued growth, they are looking for a Managing Director. 

The position

As Managing Director you will Develop and ensure the achievement of the orgnisation's strategic objectives. You will translate these objectives into a business plan and manage the preparation, monitoring, and adjustment of the P&L. Also you will act as an ambassador and focused on business development, as you will promote the organisation's value proposition and you will maintain intensive contact with customers and scientific associations. Additionally you will safeguard the quality, scientific integrity, and ethics of business processes. In doing so you wills trive for operational excellence in a customer intimate environment and continuously explore opportunities for improvement and development. Lastly you will build a cohesive team of highly qualified employees and foster close collaboration with the support services and the other business units of the larger organisation.

Candidate profile

You, as the ideal Managing Director will see yourself in the following:

• MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific field;
• At least ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech sector;
• Extensive experience as a people leader;
• Familiarity with the role of a CRO in the drug development process;
• Good insight into relevant markets and a good understanding of customer expectations;
• Scientific insights to support the team during development phases;
• Leadership experience in an analytical laboratory is highly favoured;
• Open personality with decisiveness, persuasiveness, and strong communication skills;
• Strong team player, coach, and leader;
• You are fluent English and feel comfortable speaking Dutch.
